a lot of sleeping deserves a lot of running. and a viewwww.

Mondayyyyy. i sooooort of want to hate it, but i was up and at ’em and physically in the gym by 6am this morning and had such a good circuit training session that i can’t actualllly hate it.

this weekend was a blur of activity, starting off with 13 hours of sleep on Friday night (note to self: stay in on Thursdays from now on). needless to say, i knew i needed to buck up and punish my lazy socialite self with a long run on Saturday morning. i had the number 12 in my head, so 12 it was. bam.

photo 2wouldn’t it be nice if everything in life worked out like that? make up your mind to do this + set out to do it = goes exactly as planned.

rarely turns out that way, but God knew i needed a little pick-me-upper in the shape of a good run, so this 12-miler on Saturday felt gooood. even if i didn’t get out there til almost 11 and ended up running in the heat of the blistering day. all under 9 minute miles, with a bit of an aggressive start? i’ll take it.

i then set out to try on bridesmaids dresses for T’s upcoming wedding. she found this awesome online company called Little Borrowed Dress — anyone heard of this?

little_borrowed_dress_main

you can check it out yourself, but basically, you can rent bridesmaids dresses for way cheap. this is pretty much a dream come true, if you happen to like any of their styles. their showroom is in NYC, so i offered to try on the 3 that T had chosen. the material was light and breezy and ideal for summer/beach weddings, and i thought the Hillary style was their cutest:

strapless_bridesmaid_dressthey have a wide variety of colors to choose from, and they send you two different sizes even if you know your size. i was pretty impressed with them, and it looks like we just might have a contender here.

Saturday then pushed me on over to Long Island City, right in Queens across the East River, which has some of the prettiest views of Manhattan imaginable. ’twas a lovely spot to have drinks with friends on a rooftop and then on the pier and watch the sunset.

anyhoo, this is about where i’m at today and all i keep telling myself:

Printthank goodness for Disney.

Tell me something good about your weekend!
Runners: any good runs this weekend? Is it hot where you are?

  1. Way to kill it on your run girl! 12 miles is damnnnn impressive. Sunday we did a bit of day drinking for my birthday… and let’s just say I was in bed by about 7:30PM. Monday I was soooooo tired because I woke up about 5 times, ah! Good thing birthdays are only once a year.

Love the idea of this bridesmaid rental dress thing. Sounds a lot like Rent the Runway. The dress for the first wedding I was in had this giant huge horrendous ruffle on the strap of the dress. Luckily the bride didn’t mind me having it removed πŸ™‚

  2. Love those dresses, and if you figure out how to “say it and it be so” please please please let me know. I tried to pick bridesmaids dresses that my girls could wear again (or could shorten, and then do so), and so far, the other dresses that I have worn I have or intend to wear again. This weekend….I napped and ate lots of food. And it was goooooooooood.

  3. THOSE MILES!! You are legit killing it. I love it. My runs haven’t been over 5 milers yet with my current training plan, so I’ve been loving and enjoying the smaller miles before the get higher!! What a cool dress website.

  4. I’ve only been a bridesmaid once and I got to pick my own dress so that was awesome. (I was asked to be in another wedding and couldn’t make it because it was destination and I was pregnant, but the dresses the bride picked were really pretty!) And of course I thought the dresses I picked were awesome. That is a brilliant idea for a website though!

Awesome run! I also ran 12 over the weekend. First race/longest run since getting hurt. It went a little better than I thought. πŸ™‚

    • yes, at least that happened! i haven’t been to Philly in a while and keep thinking i should take a day trip one day soon. ATL! only really been in the airport there. heard it’s fun but talk about HOT, eh?

  5. A mile of running for every hour of sleep (almost!). I have heard of the Little Borrowed Dress before and I think it’s a really cool concept. I’ve never had a bad bridesmaid dress and, to be honest, unless it was completely horrible, it’s not a big deal to me. It’s a short period of time and if it makes the bride happy, that’s what’s important!

    • that’s such a good perspective! i haven’t had a horrible one either, thankfully. my friends have good taste or else just defer and let us choose. πŸ™‚ haha yes i was thinking the same thing about my run/sleep ratio!
