2 Things Tuesday: Running & Sweat Pink

peace copy
ONE: runhappy.
i’m pretty sure i’m still riding high on the post-run glow from last night’s run. don’t you just love it when that happens?

it was one of those runs where everything just aligned perfectly, and i was giddy with the joy of being a runner — or heck, of just being alive — in that very space and time. it was 65 degrees in NYC, a gorgeous night that drew everyone out to run & bike & walk & enjoy the first tastes of Spring (woot!), and it was so uplifting to see NYC come alive and buzz with activity. i rocked a felt-fabulous run along the Hudson River and had an “all the happiness” experience, with my new Nikes (first run felt amazinggg!), pink tights (#sweatpink), and a cute boy of a running partner (this solo runner just might be convinced to convert!). we breezed through a great 6 miles before i dropped him off in his ‘hood, and then i jaunted back home, which tacked an extra mile on for a grand total of 7. not bad for a lovely Monday evening start to my week!

TWO: sweat pink. and no, that isn’t a reference to my pink tights above (although i loooove those running tights and have them in 3 colors. Danskin Now is killing it for me!). i finalllly got around to applying to be a Sweat Pink ambassador through Fit Approach…and turns out, they liked me back.

yay for all things girlie and sporty and stuff! ๐Ÿ™‚

i’ve obviously read a ton about this organization (hi, it’s impossible to miss it if you’re a fit blogger), and i love the concept of championing a company whose mission is to empower & encourage girls to embrace a healthy, fit lifestyle, and meet other amazing women with a similar mentality.

here’s their mission, taken right from their website:

“We believe that kicking ass is best done in pretty shoes. Weโ€™ve learned that real women sweat, and sweat hard. We know that assertiveness, strength, and ambition are the ultimate feminine qualities. We concede that sometimes it takes hours to get ready, but weโ€™re also no strangers to just rolling out of bed and going. Weโ€™re convinced that we run faster in pink shoelaces. We believe in pushing ourselves, and we believe in giving ourselves a break, too. Weโ€™re all about the rush of endorphins and the thrill of the challenge. Weโ€™re all for looking great and feeling even better. Weโ€™re committed to finding our best fit, and making it stick.”

count me in, girls. i’m all for sporting those pink shoelaces and linking up with other fit females to conquer our own little worlds, one workout, one new fit friend, at a time.

Tell me about your last “all the happiness” run! What made it so awesome? weather, friends, new shoes, great route…

Are you a solo runner or a group/partner runner? or, like me, do you turn it into the new date night? ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Congrats on the Sweat Pink gig!!! much deserved and their sparkle can definitely use your shine ๐Ÿ˜‰ you are the perfect ambassador for them ๐Ÿ™‚ … ummm my last epic run that I’m still beaming over is my 12 miler from this past Sunday. I’m a lone wolf runner but I’m always open to company on a run occasionally

    • aww thx, Lee — you’re so encouraging and darling. nice job on the 12 miler! hopefully i’ll get myself back into double-digits soon, now that my new sneaks should alleviate the prior injury. company on a run can be nice, i’m realizing!

  2. Congrats on becoming a Sweat Pink Ambassador. That is exciting! What will you be doing for them or what does it entail?

I used to be a solo runner, but now that I am pregnant I prefer running with friends and having some company. Iโ€™m not sure why the change of heart, but I think itโ€™s because my pace is slower and the time goes by more quickly if Iโ€™m with a friend. Plus, when I am running solo I have a tendency to focus on small aches, pains, or the need to pee (which is always, haha). When I am with friends, it distracts me from all of those things. โ˜บ

    • i’m not quiiiite sure what it entails, but i’m hoping to figure out more as i go along and read through their site more comprehensively! i know they stand for encouraging women to support one another in the active community, and i’m def all about that, so going to find ways to keep building that into my blog/life (and promote it on IG and here). i hear you on the company distracting from other things — it def did that for me and i want to get into running with ppl more to push myself.

  3. I love Danskin now becasue they are not overpriced.!!
I’m a solo runner. maybe someday I’ll run with someone else ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. YAY welcome to the SweatPink family!!! You are going to love being a part of it. I’ve met some seriously cool folks and some great opportunities have come up through it! You will fit right in with all your fabulousness. ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Well done!!

I love running on my own and I LOOOVE running with friends. I just ran two half marathons alongside a friend so we chatted to each other and it was brilliant!!

  6. Yay for happy runs! We all need those perfect runs every once in a while to remind us exactly why we do it ๐Ÿ™‚
I mix up my running. I love doing my harder workouts alone – intervals, tempos, hills – because I feel like everyone has a lot of individual goals for those and mine don’t often match up to anyone else’s. But for long or easy runs, I LOVE having company. It makes the time go by faster and takes your mind off of the effort ๐Ÿ™‚
