GIVEAWAY: Color Me Rad 5K!

you guyyyyys, i have some exciting, colorful news for you today!

whether you consider yourself an avid runner or are just starting to get interested in the idea of races, my guess is that you’ve heard about the fun and fabulous colorful race trend that has popped up all over the place and gained mega attention in the past couple of years. there’s no denying that these races add an exciting twist to running, and although i’ve yet to do one myself, i love the concept of starting a race all in white and ending as a rainbow! how cool is that?

meet Color Me Rad. and with a website boasting to deliver an event that will brighten your day “when Zoloft and balloon animals can’t seem to raise your spirits,” i mean, who can go wrong?

i’ve teamed up with the awesome crew at Color Me Rad to help promote the upcoming races they’re holding here in the NYC/NJ area.  i mean, whether you love to run or not, you have to admit: this looks like one big colorful party! i think most of us can get on board with that. 🙂

so, a little about the Color Me Rad 5Ks (3.1 miles):

Who they are: Color Me Rad is passionate about putting the “fun” in a healthy lifestyle and promoting events that will make anyone look forward to waking up for a race. they’re socially minded, too, and donate a portion of the proceeds to local charities. located in cities all across the US and Canada (and some international locations now, too!), you can check out their schedule here to find a race near you.

What it entails, exactly: you show up clean, and you leave looking like a kindergartner used you as a finger painting canvas. any questions?  🙂  take it from them:

“you’ll start off with a shirt as pure and white as your granddaddy’s dentures, and throughout the run, we’ll coat your chaffing thighs with Color Bombs of blue, green, pink, purple, and yellow until you come out like a tie-dyed hippie on the other side. each section of the run adds a new explosion of color to your clean, painter’s palate until you cross the finish line into a final blitzkrieg of color.”

What is that paint stuff, anyway? glad you asked. “this is non-toxic, non-rash-inducing, Kroger branded, colored cornstarch. with corn subsidized by the government and processed in the good o’l US of A, these blasts of starch will change your color and your demeanor but never your safety or health.” so basically, you can put this in your food, or wear it as makeup, or roll around in it to dye your clothes. you’re safe.

  1. I like that they use something as fun as color, to unify the runners. It takes away the competition and allows you to just let loose and run for a good cause. I’d love a ticket to the MetLife Stadium and will ask some friends to run too. Getting my white outfit together right now!!
