Weekend Snapshots

This past weekend was full of lots of great things. It was ridiculously hot, but packed with non-stop fun activities.

I drank from a coconut for the second time in my life, so that was cool…although I’m pretty sure I like the concept better than the actual treat itself. Hack the top off (or have the guys at Juice Generation do it for you), stick a straw in it, and walk around with a coconut. Island living in NYC, baby.

The highlight: one of my favorite people in the world came to visit me in NYC.

Meet Miss A, one of the coolest chicks alive. We met about 13 years ago and have both matured in our loves for running, reading, rings and fashion over the years.

She totally, completely rocks. That’s all I have to say about this girl. Having her visit for the weekend was absolutely one of the best parts of my Summer 2013.

We chocked the weekend full of adventures, like walking the Highline early Saturday morning before the city became a full-blow sweatbox and falling enamored with this gem of a graffiti in Chelsea:
frametasticPretty amazing, right? Kinda makes you wish for a brilliant, wildfire, urban love affair right in the middle of your everyday life. Or maybe that’s just me.

We also unleashed our inner kids and oogled at the imaginative displays in Dylan’s Candy Bar, aka NYC’s version of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. This place is utter ridiculousness and makes you feel like the Candy Land of your childhood really exists.

Dylan'sA lollipop ceiling that brings to mind the glass flowers of the Bellagio in Vegas (Am I stretching here? But seriously, that’s what came to my mind!), and that wallpaper?I was soooo tempted to do the “scratch and lick” thing from the movie, but I behaved.

They even leave you with a sweet little wish to brighten your day.

It was a jam-packed, non-stop weekend full of so many undocumented activities (Chelsea Market, sushi, Mexican food, brunch, SoHo shopping!), and it made me very thankful to have a sweet life full of wonderful people.

Oh, and last, but certainly not least, these pretty things arrived and are patiently awaiting my attention at home…hoping to try them out tonight!
